Paul Gauguin was a French Post-Impressionist artist who is considered to be one of the major French painters of the 19th century and one of the most important precursors of modern art. Gauguin loved to paint flowers which often symbolise love, innocence and the beauty of nature.

The National Gallery, London houses one of the greatest collections of paintings in the world. Its collection boasts 2,300 works including many famous paintings such as van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait, Velázquez’s Rokeby Venus, Turner’s Fighting Temeraire and Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. All major traditions of Western European painting are represented from the artists of the late medieval era and Renaissance Italy to the French Impressionists.
